Innergy Overdose Prevention Program (I.O.P.P.): Combating the Opioid Crisis Together
At Innergy Inc., we are deeply committed to addressing the opioid epidemic that continues to devastate communities, claiming the lives of 136 people each day. With a staggering 46% increase in opioid overdose fatalities from 2019 to 2020, it has never been more crucial to take action. As a faith-based organization dedicated to holistic health and wellness, we believe in collective work and responsibility for saving lives and fostering safe communities.
One of our cornerstone initiatives is the Innergy Overdose Prevention Program (I.O.P.P.). This life-saving program is designed to combat the opioid crisis by equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent overdose deaths. In collaboration with partners like DC Health, DC Engage/Health HIV, and the DC Department of Behavioral Health, I.O.P.P. provides comprehensive Naloxone training and Narcan distribution across the region.
Our Program's Mission
The I.O.P.P. initiative aims to:
- Reduce overdose deaths by providing free Naloxone (Narcan) training and distribution to community members.
- Empower individuals with life-saving knowledge and the ability to act swiftly during an opioid overdose emergency.
- Foster a safer environment through education, outreach, and partnerships, encouraging communities to take collective responsibility in combating the opioid crisis.
Program Components
1. Naloxone (Narcan) Training
We offer free, hands-on training to educate individuals on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and administer Naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal drug. This training is designed for youth, adults, and community leaders alike, empowering people of all ages to be first responders in their communities.
2. Narcan Distribution
Following the training, participants receive free Narcan kits to keep on hand, enabling them to act immediately if an overdose occurs. Each kit contains everything needed to administer the medication quickly and effectively.
3. Community Outreach and Partnerships
Through our partnerships with DC Health, DC Engage/Health HIV, and the DC Department of Behavioral Health, we expand our reach across Washington, D.C., ensuring that individuals, families, and communities are better equipped to fight the opioid crisis.
