Who Are We?
The Whole Person Health Initiative is a comprehensive program dedicated to fostering holistic wellness and addressing health disparities among marginalized communities. This initiative emphasizes the importance of social justice and aims to elevate the well-being of every individual, with a particular focus on Black SGL (Same-Gender Loving), Gay, Bi, and Trans men. Our mission is to create an inclusive environment that promotes physical, mental, and emotional health while advocating for social equity.
Key Components of the Program:
1. The ManDate Gathering:
- Description: A monthly discussion group exclusively for Black SGL, Gay, Bi, and Trans men.
- Objectives:
- Provide a safe space for open dialogue and support.
- Address topics related to mental health, sexuality, relationships, and community issues.
- Foster a sense of belonging and community among participants.
- Activities:
- Facilitated group discussions led by experienced moderators.
- Guest speakers from the community and healthcare professionals.
- Interactive workshops focusing on self-care, advocacy, and empowerment.
2. The ManDate Conference:
- Description: An annual conference designed to bring together Black SGL, Gay, Bi, and Trans men for education, networking, and empowerment.
- Objectives:
- Raise awareness about health disparities and social justice issues.
- Provide educational sessions on health, wellness, and advocacy.
- Create networking opportunities for community members and allies.
- Activities:
- Keynote addresses by prominent activists and health experts.
- Panel discussions on topics such as HIV/AIDS prevention, mental health, and legal rights.
- Workshops and breakout sessions focused on skill-building and personal development.
3. The ManDate Retreats:
- Description: Periodic retreats aimed at providing Black SGL, Gay, Bi, and Trans men with a space for relaxation, reflection, and rejuvenation.
- Objectives:
- Offer a restorative environment away from daily stressors.
- Promote holistic health through physical, mental, and spiritual activities.
- Strengthen bonds within the community through shared experiences.
